Fall Clean-Up: Issues requiring attention by the Board

Budget and Finance:

If you have not attended a Budget and Finance Committee meeting or the Special Session at Mountain View in August you are most likely clueless on where the RCSC is financially.
  • No, we are not broke
  • We are however trapped in a malaise of playing catch-up for past sins

Motions, Mountain View and More...

My apologies, I know it has been weeks since writing but with the weather finally breaking and visitors in town, time was at a premium. However, there has been no shortage of RCSC-related happenings. We won't belabor any of them, because like us, we know being outside when it is 70 degrees is the exact reason many of us live here. We will try and break this into snippets of all of the changes so you can pick and choose the things that are of interest to you.

Mountain View Put On Hold; First Reading.

Easily the most controversial board action in a very long time was at the Feb, 23 board meeting when the Mountain View project was recommended to be put on hold (first reading). If you haven't

Selling Our Amenities - Please Don't Sell What Members Have Bought and Paid For

A Letter to the Board of Directors

RCSC Board of Directors,

There are two things upsetting me about the non-resident golf deals.

Firstly, I don’t want you to sell my viable amenities to non-residents. The idea that you’re selling them at a rate cheaper than what I pay and giving them preference stings even more. I understand the business practice of selling surplus

Let's Talk About Golf

Member / Board Exchange Recap - Part Four

So What is it About Golf?

I got a touch hot about being lied to. I hate that more than anything else. What is, is. Simply own it and accept the fact you are merrily giving our amenities away to non-members. Doesn't matter how you couch it, how you wrap it, when you let those living outside the walls enjoy what we have paid for for less money and equal or better ability to access it, you've failed in your duties.

Priorities and Amenities - Is Our Priority to Give Away Our Amenities?

Member / Board Exchange Recap - Part Three

This meeting had so many interesting parts to it, hence the Five Part Recap.  Here we offer up the major points not covered in the other blogs.  The video of the September 12th meeting is worth watching.

Where should our priorities lie and what should our priorities be?

Golf is an Important Amenity in Sun City so Let's Talk...

Eleven Courses within Sun City

Sun City was built as a "golfing community." It will always be a "golfing community." Our history is invaluable in helping us understand the important role golf played in the marketing and selling of Sun City. The challenge for all of us

How Did We Get Here?

In a Thread started on 7.23.22 by Bill Pearson, he creates a Timeline for those interested in how we got to the situation that we are in regarding Golf in Sun City. (Residents and Non-Resident Play)

Yesterday on the Sun City Advocates Facebook page, we got a great question from Nia Maxwell asking simply; "how did we get here?" The "here" meaning a place where outside full play passes were being sold to non-residents who had access to our web portal and were playing golf for far less than what Sun City residents were paying less than many of us would should we want to golf. In addition, they were literally able to get tee times ahead of members.

It's Not Even About Golf Anymore ?

Part 1 - Today's Board Meeting

I will go into detail below, today's board meeting was stunning. Here's why:

1). The board told us loud and clear, their job is about protecting non-members who buy full play golf passes.

2). Those of us living here and subsidizing golf should not expect to be able to get on a course when these non-members want to play.

3). Worse yet, they told us it is perfectly okay with them (the board) if those non-members can play golf on our courses for less than we pay. ($35 for us, $20 for them).

4). Even more staggering is the board told us they didn't want to infringe on managements right to set golf rates. I freaking kid you not. Was there a single person in the room who knows the history of setting golf rates?
