Guest Blog: An open letter to: The 2022 RCSC Board, the 2023 RCSC Board Members Elect, and the RCSC Membership

The Night Before Christmas...

Actually, it's three nights before Christmas and a half day; that's when the RCSC has scheduled its "Special Session." it's December 22nd at 9 am at the SunDial auditorium. There's one purpose with one item on the agenda; to have the "second reading" of the motion to pass the 2023 budget and the lot assessment increase from $496 to $525. If you haven't watched the last board meeting, you can do so by clicking here. A good stiff cocktail, or perhaps some Prozac will make it palatable (maybe).

Will the RCSC be closing down on January 1st?

"In my opinion, I would have to close down!"

We kid you not, at the November 17 board meeting this statement was made by the RCSC General Manager. There was a spirited debate regarding the $29 lot assessment increase buried in the acceptance of the RCSC budget for 2023. They tried to pass it at the October meeting and it was voted down, because there was some concern, or was it confusion? In either case, it failed. They brought it back up at the November meeting and once again on the agenda, all it said was Unfinished Business: 1. Motion to Reconsider. No explanation, no nothing.

·      I came away from the Board meeting on Thursday, March 31^st pretty upset about what I had just witnessed. 

·     While I will be the first one to tell you that I have never paid too much attention to our Management Reports or Financials (Balance Sheet/Statement of Income and Expenses) – mostly because I didn’t understand them – I DID understand what was said and am appalled at what I heard.

o   Director McAdam asked management if the Carry Forward money, which is currently 2.7 M more than last year, could be illustrated differently.  Management agreed to publish it on a quarterly basis.
