Ad Hoc Bylaw Committee Meeting Notes from 4/11/2022

Well… not much to report on the April 11th Ad Hoc Bylaw Committee meeting, but only because I was kicked-out!

No…, it wasn’t anything I said. It was because the committee was supposedly going to get into the nuts and bolts of the bylaws and for some reason they didn’t believe they could or would express their honest opinions as to whether a bylaw was good or bad if there were guests in the room!?!?!?

Regarding: 90-Day Moratorium on Mountain View

Thank you for the opportunity to provide one final opinion regarding the Mountain View Project.

Until the last Board meeting when management outlined the next steps to be taken, I had not realized that any actual construction or demolition would add another 12 – 18 months to the timetable. The present PIF Budget Summary showed over $15 Million for Phase I in the Year 2023, so I was under the impression construction would be starting then.

Mountain View Manifesto

I am going on record...

I oppose the demolition and resurrection of the Mountain View Recreation Center for the following reasons.

1. COST
The estimated cost for the replacement of a perfectly good, if not old, facility ranges WILDLY from a low of $27,000,000 all the way up to $55,000,000

On the subject of "old," I hasten to remind MOST OF US that we are older than Mountain View. Who among us has not had one surgery or another to extend our lives or at least for pain relief? Why does not the "Old Girl" deserve the same RESPECT, even the same treatment?

$$$$ MONEY – WHO DOESN’T LIKE MONEY? $$$$$

I’ve never met a soul that didn’t like money.  How about you?

·      I came away from the Board meeting on Thursday, March 31st pretty upset about what I had just witnessed.

·     While I will be the first one to tell you that I have never paid too much attention to our Management Reports or Financials (Balance Sheet/Statement of Income and Expenses) – mostly because I didn’t understand them – I DID understand what was said and am appalled at what I heard.

Personal Viewpoint

These are my personal notes, comments, and opinions from the April 4th Ad Hoc Bylaw Committee. These notes and comments are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the Committee.

Anyone who has read my previous comments and opinions regarding Robert’s Rules of Order will not be surprised to read that in my opinion, they are going about this process incorrectly.

Bylaw input I shared with Ad-Hoc Committee Members

Bylaws are currently being reviewed by a newly appointed Ad-Hoc Committee.

Tom Marone is our Bylaw and Robert's Rules of Order go-to guy.  Here are his thoughts on where they should start with the enormous task ahead of them.  Please view the two attachments that pertain to the current review of the RCSC's Bylaws.
