We Need to Ask You Some Things...And We Need Your Answers... - A broad summary of the recent poll

We recently sent a poll your way - We Need to Ask You Some Things...And We Need Your Answers...

We received awesome feedback.  We will be posting specifics to the Blog shortly so stay tuned. I created a simple, condensed interpretation of all the answers.  In future Blogs, others may choose to answer some of the comments individually. My compilation follows:

Respondents love Sun City! They love the activities, the choices, the Recreation Centers, their neighborhoods, and the weather.

They worry about
  • the Board of Directors (BOD)behavior,
  • the lack of accountability uncovered,
  • the lack of fiduciary responsibility shown, and
  • negligent oversight of the General Manager (GM).

There is a significant validation of the Sun City Advocates (SCA) and our activity to date. Respondents believe
  • Advocates have been missing from Sun City and are important for the future;
  • While we have concentrated on many RCSC issues, there are those that believe advocacy opportunities exist for Phase 1 issues - such as infrastructure, homelessness, and age restriction infractions - handicap accessibility, and the number of people working full-time that limits involvement in meetings, etc.;
  • At the present time, not all these issues fall under our current focus;
  • Two-thirds of the respondents seem to believe we will be their communication conduit for information, which implies they will attend when needed.

There are concerns that we should discuss and address as an Advisory Panel.
  • Are we listening?
  • Are we asking the right questions?
  • Are we producing results?
  • Are we representative of the community at large?
  • Have we been emotionally responsible and respectful in all our communications and interactions?
  • Could we be more solutions-focused and act as a support system to the board?
  • Are we helping to limit the overwhelming amount of information available to members by making our priorities clear?

We've been tasked to also consider
  • How to get more community involvement,
  • How to highlight more SCA voices by adding additional Advisory Panel members or group members with construction, finance, and legal expertise to tackle the many important issues that require our attention.

Wow! What great feedback for our very first, rather informal little survey.

The poll is still active for a little longer if you wish to participate. Click here
